The Grange Retirement Home

This residential care home provides personal and nursing care to up to 62 people, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 60 people were using the service across an adapted three-storey building.

Inspectors found that people were not always kept safe from harm. Care plans contained contradicting information about residents' risks and lacked sufficient guidance for staff on managing them. Some staff were unaware of individual risks affecting the people they supported. Medicine management did not always follow proper nursing home guidance, and environmental risks were not consistently managed, with fire logs not always completed by staff on duty.

The home's governance was not always effective in providing adequate oversight of quality and staffing. Internal audits had not identified concerns that inspectors discovered during their visit, suggesting weaknesses in the home's systems for monitoring and improvement.
