The Goddards

The Goddards is a care home registered to support up to 14 people with learning disabilities and autistic people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, finding that people were not always protected from abuse because the management team did not always follow policies designed to keep them safe. Governance systems were also not effective enough to drive improvement, and inspectors found a breach of regulation relating to this.

On the positive side, inspectors found caring, well-informed staff who supported people's choice, independence and community life, including helping some people into employment. People said they felt safe and well supported, and the registered manager was described as open, committed and person-focused, despite the governance shortfalls identified.
