The Gables Residential Home

The Gables Residential Home provides personal care for up to 24 people, with 19 residents at the time of inspection. The service had implemented several measures to support residents during the pandemic, including enhanced cleaning schedules and adequate personal protective equipment for staff. Staff received additional training in infection prevention and control to safely support those in their care.

The home prioritised maintaining connections between residents and their families through flexible visiting arrangements. Relatives could book indoor visits in a dedicated visiting pod and garden area, with arrangements coordinated through emails and telephone calls. Residents also had unrestricted access to video calls and telephone contact with friends and family.

Staggered staff breaks helped maintain social distancing, and the service had clear protocols requiring staff to isolate if they tested positive for COVID-19.
