The Crown

The Crown is a residential care home accommodating up to seven adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, with two residents at the time of inspection. The accommodation spans three floors with shared living areas, seven bedrooms with ensuite facilities and kitchenettes, plus three rooms designed for people with physical disabilities. The home includes a lift, enclosed garden and on-site parking to promote accessibility.

Inspectors identified several areas requiring improvement, including safeguarding reporting procedures, staff awareness, records management and quality assurance processes that focused on systems rather than people's lived experience. The service had installed CCTV in communal areas without consulting residents or obtaining their consent, meaning people were not always supported with maximum choice and control. A new manager had recently been appointed and demonstrated strong commitment to addressing the inspection findings, implementing several changes during the inspection period, though these were too recent to assess their full effectiveness.
