The Briars

This large residential care home accommodates up to 38 people, including those living with cognitive impairment and complex needs. At the time of inspection, 22 people were receiving support. The building has been adapted to meet residents' needs, with facilities designed to support their wellbeing. The service demonstrated good practice in implementing recent government guidance on visitor access, introducing designated visitors who could enter safely. Staff screened all visitors through temperature checks and risk questionnaires, with rapid response lateral flow tests conducted before entry. People maintained regular contact with loved ones through phone calls, video calls, window visits, and garden visits. Visitors received personal protective equipment and guidance on its safe use, while residents and staff were regularly tested for COVID-19.
