The Beaufort Care Home

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 9 September 2026. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of assessment: 15 July to 29 July 2026. The Beaufort Care Home is a nursing home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 29 people. Some people who live at The Beaufort have dementia or a cognitive impairment. At the time of our assessment there were 22 people using the service. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns we had received about the service. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to good governance. At this assessment we found the provider remained in breach of these legal regulations.

The provider did not consistently provide safe, effective or person-centred care. Governance and quality assurance systems were not always effective in identifying, monitoring and addressing risks, and leaders did not always maintain oversight of people's experiences or act on learning from previous concerns. Care plans, risk assessments and monitoring records did not consistently provide staff with the information needed to support people safely, promote independence and respond to changing needs. Staffing pressures contributed to care that was often task-focused and centred around routines rather than individual preferences. However, staff worked effectively with healthcare professionals, understood their safeguarding responsibilities and had been recruited safely. Staff described feeling supported by leaders, and the management team demonstrated a caring and compassionate approach while showing a commitment to improving the service.
