Surrey Heights

Surrey Heights, in Surrey, is a residential care home providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia, with capacity for 39 people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following concerns about risk management, safeguarding and governance. Inspectors found medicines were not always managed safely, care plans lacked detail, and staff did not always ensure informed consent or properly assess mental capacity.

Some incidents were not reported to safeguarding teams as required, and oversight of staff training was weak.

Despite these shortfalls, people and relatives spoke positively about the kindness of staff, and inspectors observed compassionate, attentive care. People said they felt safe, and social activities were available. The CQC has told the provider it must improve.
