St James's Lodge cares for 25 people and provides nursing care. Staff demonstrated good infection control practices, including proper use and disposal of personal protective equipment, good social distancing, and support for residents to maintain distance while preventing isolation and loneliness. The service facilitated virtual contact between residents and their families. New admissions followed a rigorous protocol: people tested negative for Covid within 24 hours before arrival, were isolated for 14 days with retesting shortly after admittance, and their personal items were quarantined for 72 hours if they couldn't be cleaned. Families were informed about the need to isolate gifts and presents for 72 hours, helping them plan special occasions accordingly.
