St Helens Down

St Helens Down provides personal care for younger adults with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, mental health conditions, physical disabilities or sensory impairments. The home accommodates up to 6 people and had 3 residents at the time of inspection. Staff support people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, enabling access to specialist health and social care in the community and supporting decision-making in line with best practice. Residents can personalise their rooms and choose how they use their living environment. The home provides a safe, clean, well-equipped setting that meets people's sensory and physical needs.

Staff deliver kind and compassionate care, with one professional noting that a resident's "quality of life has been enhanced and prolonged by the care staff over the years." A resident described staff as "kind and helpful, they are ever so good." Staff understand how to protect people from poor care and abuse, and policies and systems within the service support safe, least restrictive practices that work in people's best interests.
