Shepley House

Shepley House provides personal care to up to 43 older people and those living with dementia, with 38 people using the service at inspection. Systems to ensure people's safety were not always used effectively, and people's needs and risks were not always clearly identifiable in care records. Staff recruitment did not consistently follow safe recruitment policies, and feedback about staff visibility within the home was mixed. Medicines were not managed in line with good practice regarding storage, and some medicines were being given covertly, hidden in food or drink.

Risk management details were not always clear in records, and documented care did not consistently demonstrate that assessed needs were being met. Accident and incident records were not always captured in oversight systems, though appropriate action was taken when issues were identified. The home maintained clean and tidy premises and encouraged visits from friends and family.
