Rutland House Nursing Home

This residential care home provides nursing and personal care for up to 18 people with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities or sensory impairments across two floors. At the time of inspection, 14 people were living there. Residents and their relatives described staff as kind and caring, with people feeling safe in the home. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people's needs and were regularly reviewed to ensure appropriate support.

Staff demonstrated good awareness of risks related to people's care and worked to maintain residents' independence. Medicines were managed safely, and people had regular access to healthcare professionals, which was confirmed through care records and discussions with external healthcare providers. The home had completed safety checks of the premises and fire safety procedures, with individual emergency evacuation plans in place for each person. Staff were knowledgeable about raising concerns and whistleblowing procedures.
