About Quinnell House

Quinnell House is a residential care home in East Sussex, providing accommodation and support for people living with dementia. Details of the most recent CQC findings are set out below.

Quinnell House, in East Sussex, provides accommodation, care and support for up to 56 people living with dementia, without nursing care on site. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement, down from Good, after finding breaches relating to safe care and treatment and governance. Inspectors found risks were not managed proactively, fire safety checks and training had lapsed, weight loss in several people went unchecked, and wound monitoring records were inadequate.

Staff training, supervision and audit systems also fell short.

Despite this, people and relatives described staff as kind, caring and respectful, and independence was encouraged. Feedback on communication was mixed, with some relatives finding it hard to reach a manager or get timely answers to concerns.
