Queen Elizabeth Care Centre

Queen Elizabeth Care Centre is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 74 people across an adapted three-storey building. At the time of inspection, 39 people were using the service, which supports individuals with various physical and mental health needs including dementia and learning disabilities.

Inspectors found that people were not always supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, and staff did not consistently support them in the least restrictive way possible. Risk assessments in care plans raised concerns, with unclear evidence that staff were always aware of individual risks, though the management team had begun reviewing all care plans. Medicine administration occurred at correct times, but inconsistencies existed in medicine management practices, including incorrect recording of topical creams and inconsistent counts of homely remedies.
