Prideaux Lodge

Prideaux Lodge accommodates up to 20 people in need of personal care, with 17 residents at the time of inspection, most living with dementia. Staff demonstrated creative and thoughtful approaches to helping residents understand pandemic-related changes. They used teddy bears and dolls dressed in personal protective equipment to familiarise people with the gear staff would wear, and encouraged residents to try it on themselves. When introducing testing, staff showed residents test kits and demonstrated the process on dolls. One staff member had even knitted care worker dolls wearing PPE to aid understanding. Easy read documents were also provided to support comprehension of these significant changes during people's care.
