About Pine Lodge Care Home

Pine Lodge Care Home is a residential care home in Kent, offering care for older people. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent assessment of the service.

Pine Lodge Care Home, based across two purpose-built buildings, supports up to 59 older people, some living with dementia. The CQC found the service had declined and is now rated inadequate, with breaches relating to safe care, dignity, staffing and governance. Staffing levels were insufficient, fire safety checks had lapsed, and care plans were not always updated to reflect risks such as diabetes and constipation.

The service has been placed in special measures.

Inspectors found staff were kind and people spoke positively about their care, but felt rushed due to low staffing. There was no registered manager in post, though a new manager had been appointed. Concerns about staffing raised by people, relatives and staff had not been acted on sufficiently before the inspection, and governance and record-keeping needed significant improvement.
