Pendene House

Pendene House provides residential care and accommodation for up to 17 older people, including those living with dementia. At inspection, nine people were using the service. The home maintained robust visiting procedures to reduce COVID-19 transmission risk, requiring visitors to show negative test results, undergo temperature checks, and complete screening questionnaires before entry. All visitors wore personal protective equipment, and visits took place in a designated room that was sanitized after each use. People were supported to maintain contact with family and friends through window visits, telephone calls, and video calls during the pandemic.

The service demonstrated strong infection prevention and control practices, maintaining cleanliness and regularly sanitizing high-touch areas. Staff had received refresher training in infection prevention and control guidance and were kept informed of updated government COVID-19 management guidance. Staff participated in testing and vaccination programmes.
