Paisley Court

Paisley Court provides personal and nursing care to up to 60 older people, many living with dementia, across four separate suites in a two-storey building. At inspection, 57 people were using the service. The home supports people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, with staff working in the least restrictive way possible. Appropriate checks on both permanent and agency staff were in place to ensure suitability, and staffing levels were safely planned according to people's needs.

However, improvements were needed to ensure the service was properly maintained, clean and secure. Quality monitoring systems failed to consistently identify or demonstrate actions taken to address cleanliness issues, care planning gaps and risks. Medicines management also required improvement, with records not always accurately reflecting prescriber instructions for prescribed creams and thickening products. Further development was needed around Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards procedures to reflect changing needs, and in delivering person-centred care to people living with dementia.
