Oakwood Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service

Oakwood Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service provides residential care for up to 13 people recovering from brain injuries, along with support for one person in the community. It promotes independent living, with people able to cook and do laundry in their own rooms with support from a therapy team. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall.

Inspectors found breaches relating to medicines management and oversight, with gaps in staff training and inconsistent record keeping. Families raised concerns about reliance on agency staff and poor communication, and healthy eating was not always promoted. Staff were kind and caring, and people felt well supported by permanent staff, but a registered manager had not been in post for some time and improvement plans had not yet fully embedded.
