Oakley Lodge Nursing Home provides nursing care and support for up to seven people with physical and learning disabilities. At inspection, six people were living there. The service had implemented robust visiting procedures including temperature checks and COVID-19 risk assessments, with PPE and hand sanitiser available for visitors. Relatives were kept informed of visiting restrictions, and the home offered garden visits, window visits, and video calling via Skype and Zoom to maintain family contact.

The registered manager and staff had arranged furniture to naturally encourage social distancing and had agreements in place with residents about self-isolating in their bedrooms if needed. The provider had detailed policies covering various contingencies and the impact of COVID-19 on people, relatives and staff, designed to minimise disruption while keeping residents safe. The registered manager was researching additional innovative approaches to enable safe indoor visiting while staying informed of government guidance.
