Capwell Grange Care Home

Capwell Grange provides nursing and residential care to 83 people living with dementia and long-term physical conditions, with capacity for up to 146 residents. The service operates five individual bungalows, each with its own manager, and includes a rehabilitation unit supporting people to regain independence following ill health. Inspectors found improvements in promoting safety and responding to nursing and health needs, with staff taking swift action to address injuries and health changes. People were protected against potential harm and abuse.

Residents and families spoke positively about their experiences. One person said, "I was wheeled into Capwell Grange, but I walked out. They gave me back my independence, it changed my mind what a nursing home was like." A relative noted, "It has improved by 90 per cent, we were thinking of moving our family member. But proof is in the pudding, we shall have to see." However, inspectors identified some shortfalls in responding to potential neglect when people first moved into the home from hospital or another care setting, and made a recommendation about managing safeguarding concerns.
