Oaklands Nursing and Residential Home

This residential care home provides personal and nursing care to up to 44 older people and people living with dementia across two storeys. At inspection, 41 people were using the service. While people felt safe and staff were recruited safely with knowledge of safeguarding concerns, medicines were not always managed safely or in line with prescribers' directions. Risk assessment systems were not robust enough, with individual assessments sometimes lacking sufficient detail or missing entirely. The service had recently been separated into units, which staff said helped organise shifts and improve response times. Infection prevention and control measures were in place and being followed, though staffing training in key areas was not consistently provided. Despite adequate staffing levels overall, some people felt there were not enough staff at times.
