North Bay House

North Bay House in Suffolk is a residential care home for up to 29 older people, some living with dementia. The CQC rated it inadequate overall and has taken enforcement action, imposing urgent conditions including a restriction on new admissions. Inspectors found seven breaches of regulation, covering unsafe care, insufficient staffing, poor consent practices, safeguarding failures, unreported incidents and weak governance.

The service has been placed in special measures.

Feedback was mixed. Relatives generally felt reassured by the care given, but some people described staff as stretched, slow to respond and occasionally dismissive, with little meaningful activity offered during the day. The CQC concluded significant improvement is needed across most areas of the service.
