Mulberry Court Care Home

Mulberry Court Care Home, in Nottingham, is a nursing home providing personal care and support to younger and older adults with physical disabilities and/or dementia, supporting 40 people at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement, down from Good, after an assessment prompted partly by a Coroner's prevention of future death report.

Inspectors found governance systems failed to reliably identify problems, including gaps in infection control oversight, an environment not fully adapted for people with dementia, and weak monitoring of DoLS authorisations. Staff were caring and medicines were managed safely, but dignity and choice were not always upheld, and activities were sometimes limited. This resulted in a breach of good governance rules, and the provider must submit an action plan.
