Mayflower Care Home in Kent provides accommodation with nursing and personal care for up to 76 older people, younger adults and people with dementia, sensory impairment or physical disability. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following an assessment prompted by concerns about risk management and safeguarding, and found breaches relating to staffing, risk management, infection control, premises and equipment, and governance.

Inspectors found gaps in oversight of constipation risks, incomplete staff training, poorly maintained equipment and some areas smelling of stale urine. Quality monitoring had not consistently led to timely improvements. However, staff were recruited safely and were kind, patient and attentive, and residents and relatives generally spoke positively about their care.
