Maristow Nursing Home in Wiltshire provides nursing care for older people, people living with dementia, younger adults and adults with a physical disability. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding two breaches relating to safe care and treatment and to governance. Inspectors found unsafe aspects of the environment, including excessive hot water and unsecured chemicals, poor medicines management, and weak quality auditing that had failed to catch these problems.

Despite this, staff were found to be kind, attentive and well trained, and people and relatives spoke warmly of the care received. People's independence, choice and health needs were well supported, and leaders were described as passionate about the service. The provider has been asked to submit an action plan addressing the shortfalls identified.
