Marian House

Marian House is a residential care home in Birmingham providing support to up to 20 people with a learning disability and autistic people. The CQC found three breaches of regulations, covering safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, and governance, and the overall rating has fallen from good to requires improvement. Risks were not always assessed or managed effectively, recruitment checks and fire safety arrangements were not robust, and care records lacked detail on people's goals and independence.

Inspectors found staff were warm, kind and respectful, and people said they felt safe and happy. However, the layout of the home did not always support people's sensory needs or independence, some bedrooms were not person-centred, and shared bathrooms limited privacy. The provider had begun making improvements following the assessment.
