Highbury House Mental Health Unit

Highbury House Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to 20 people, supporting younger adults and older people with learning disabilities, mental health needs including those detained under the Mental Health Act, sensory impairments, and those who misuse drugs and alcohol. The home is registered for up to 21 people and is larger than typical domestic properties, though the building design integrates well into the local area. Staff were encouraged not to wear uniforms when accompanying people outside, helping to normalise the service within the community.

People using the service spoke positively about Highbury House, considering it their home and expressing satisfaction with how it was managed and the care provided. However, the registered manager had not always understood their responsibilities to promptly notify CQC of important events occurring at the service.
