Hillcroft Care Home

Hillcroft Care Home, in Dudley, provides accommodation with nursing and personal care for adults, including people living with physical disabilities and dementia. It was caring for 24 people at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the home requires improvement overall, a fall from its previous good rating, after finding three breaches of regulations relating to consent, safe care and governance.

Inspectors found risks were not always properly identified, care plans did not always reflect people's needs, and medicines were not always stored or managed safely. Governance systems were not effective at picking up these issues. Staffing levels were adequate and residents spoke positively about staff, though care was described as task focused rather than person centred, and one resident had not properly consented to bedrails.
