Haven Lodge

Haven Lodge is a residential care home in Wakefield, providing support for up to 32 older people and people living with dementia. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, identifying a breach of good governance. Inspectors found incidents were not always thoroughly investigated, maintenance and mattress checks were incomplete, key records were missing, and staff lacked regular supervision.

A new acting manager had begun addressing these issues.

Feedback from people and relatives was mixed: some felt scared by incidents in communal areas, while others praised the caring, patient staff. Activities were described as irregular due to a vacant post. Inspectors found staffing levels, training and medicines management were good, and observed people were included and treated with kindness.
