About Halland House

Halland House is a residential care home in East Sussex, providing accommodation and personal care for people with learning disabilities and autism. The findings below set out what CQC inspectors observed during their most recent visit.

Halland House is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 30 people with learning disabilities and autism. Inspectors found people relaxed and comfortable, supported by kind, patient staff who knew them well and encouraged independence and community activities. Staffing levels and safeguarding systems were sound, and staff had appropriate training for supporting autistic people and those with learning disabilities.

Improvements were needed around activities for people with increasing frailty, and inspectors identified weaknesses in governance and record keeping. Some relatives said they were not always kept informed about care reviews, and some staff felt unsupported. The provider had begun work to address these issues, and the home is rated Good overall.
