Friary House

Friary House is a residential care home providing support to older people, some living with dementia, with 16 people using the service at the time of assessment. The CQC rated the home inadequate overall and found five breaches of legal regulations, covering safe care, safeguarding, staffing, person-centred care and governance. Inspectors found medicines were not managed safely, care plans lacked detail on preferences and risks, and fire and legionella safety checks were incomplete.

Staffing levels and training were not always sufficient, and safeguarding concerns were not consistently reported to the local authority or health professionals. Despite this, people and relatives spoke positively about staff kindness and personal care. The CQC has taken enforcement action against the provider.
