Franciscan Convent Blackburn

Franciscan Convent – Blackburn provides accommodation and personal care for up to 13 people, primarily retired Sisters and women of different faiths. At the time of inspection, 11 people were living in the home. The service shares communal rooms, a Chapel and grounds with the wider Convent community. The registered manager had established robust infection prevention and control procedures that staff understood and followed. A visiting room equipped with a screen was prepared to enable safe visits when restrictions were eased, with clear signage and personal protective equipment available at the entrance. New admissions were managed in line with COVID-19 guidance, with people admitted only after a negative test result and supported to self-isolate for up to 14 days. Health and wellbeing were carefully monitored during this period. Plentiful PPE supplies were maintained and regularly monitored, with staff trained in infection control practices and reinforcing posters displayed throughout the home.
