Acorn House Care Centre

Acorn House Care Centre provides personal care for up to 32 older people and those living with dementia across two floors, with a passenger lift ensuring access to both levels. At inspection, 30 people were living at the home and felt safe in their environment. Staff followed safe infection control practices, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment to protect people from COVID-19 and cross infection. The provider ensured staff were recruited safely and were suitable to support residents.

Staff managed people's medicines safely in line with national guidance and protected residents from the risk of abuse or avoidable harm, with appropriate action taken to manage accidents and incidents. Staff knew the people they supported and provided individualised care that reflected their needs, risks and preferences, encouraging people to make choices when they could. The safety of the home environment was checked regularly. The inspection found mixed feedback regarding staffing levels.
