Florence Court Care Home

Florence Court is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 75 people, with 32 residents at the time of inspection. The service supports older people, some living with dementia, in purpose-built accommodation across four floors. Residents and relatives reported that the service provided good care with staff meeting people's needs effectively.

However, the home faced significant challenges with risk management. Since October 2022, a fly infestation had posed health risks that were not robustly assessed or properly managed. Other health and safety risks had not always been evaluated to ensure appropriate action was taken, and identified actions were not consistently completed. The home's safeguarding procedures were not sufficiently robust, with skin injuries not always recognized as possible abuse incidents and safeguarding concerns not always reported to the local authority or CQC as required.
