Dearne Hall

Dearne Hall is a purpose-built care home accommodating up to 48 people across three floors, with 34 residents at inspection. Some people live with dementia. Staff know residents well and recognise when care adjustments are needed, taking individual choices into account.

The home has systems for social activities and stimulation in place, though inspectors observed limited engagement in activities during their visit, prompting a recommendation to review programmes for greater individual meaning and purpose.

The management team has recently undergone changes and receives support from the regional manager and quality team. They have identified improvement areas and are working through an action plan. Staff safeguard people from abuse, recognising and reporting concerns appropriately.

Risks in people's care are identified and managed safely, and people receive their medicines as prescribed by trained staff who receive ongoing support in safe medicine handling.
