Crossways is a nursing home in one building providing personal care and nursing for up to 18 older people, some living with dementia, with bedrooms across two floors and access to a garden. The CQC assessed the home after concerns were raised about safety, and found a breach of regulations relating to governance. Record keeping around medicines and incidents was poor, audits had not picked up these shortfalls, and maintenance issues had not been addressed.
Despite this, people living at Crossways said they felt safe and happy, and relatives praised the kindness and experience of staff. People were supported to stay independent and could reach the management team when needed. Some people wanted more conversation and meaningful activity from staff.
The home is now rated Requires Improvement overall.
