Coastal Lodge

Coastal Lodge is a purpose-built care home specialising in short-term rehabilitation and reablement for people stepping down from hospital or stepping up from the community. The home supports up to 35 people across four separate units. During inspection, the provider's contingency planning was found to be insufficiently robust. Staff had worked across both the designated Covid-19 unit and the main home on three occasions, creating increased infection risk, and the provider had not informed CQC or other key stakeholders of this occurring. No formal risk assessments were initially in place to mitigate these risks; assessments were only produced after being requested by inspectors. Apart from these concerns, no other issues were identified around infection prevention and control processes or practice. The home maintains a detailed pre-admission procedure for staff and people to follow.
