Clumber House Nursing Home

Clumber House Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to up to 41 people, with 38 residents at the time of inspection. The service's systems for assessing and monitoring risk were not effective in identifying concerns observed during the inspection that put people at risk. Care records were not always reflective of actual observations, meaning residents did not consistently receive person-centred support. While the home had a system to review accidents and incidents, this did not always lead to improved safety or better risk mitigation.

Staff faced significant pressure due to high support dependency among residents, leaving little time for social engagement and meaning staff could not always respond quickly to people's needs. The manager was advised to review staffing levels and deployment. Although processes existed to assess people under the Mental Capacity Act, the service was not always working in line with this legislation. The manager was recommended to review information held on residents regarding their mental capacity assessments.
