Carmel Lodge Care Home

Carmel Lodge Care Home provides personal and nursing care to older people and adults of all ages, including those living with dementia, for up to 36 people. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, following concerns raised about safety and management. Inspectors found breaches relating to governance and staffing, with medicines not always managed effectively and inconsistent learning from incidents.

Staff were skilled and well trained, but staffing levels were insufficient to provide fully person-centred care, and those confined to their rooms had fewer opportunities for activities. People and relatives spoke warmly of staff and felt safe, describing a friendly, family-like atmosphere and confidence that complaints would be acted upon.
