This care home provides accommodation and personal care for up to four people with learning disabilities, some of whom may also live with dementia. At inspection, four people were using the service. The registered manager had implemented clear visiting protocols with families and friends, reviewed regularly to maintain safety. Outdoor visits continued using a Perspex screen, supported by a booking system and enhanced cleaning to minimise infection risk. Staff introduced staggered mealtimes to reduce mixing, which residents adapted to well and which unexpectedly improved concentration and reduced choking risks. The manager created pictorial guides to COVID-19 testing and vaccination to support residents through these processes. Staff worked longer shifts to reduce changeovers and felt well supported by the registered manager through regular social media contact and access to confidential counselling for their wellbeing.
