Charnwood House accommodates up to 65 older people in a purpose-built building divided into four units. At the time of inspection, 56 residents lived there, some with dementia. People and relatives spoke positively about the care they received.

Staff demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding procedures and effectively identified and assessed risks related to people's care and the environment. Medicines were managed safely by trained staff, and recruitment processes were robust.

The home had quality assurance systems in place, including audits of care records, to monitor and review service standards. A contingency plan existed to maintain safe operations during challenging circumstances such as adverse weather. Staff reported feeling supported by the management team.
