Chandos Lodge Nursing Home

Chandos Lodge Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care to older people and people living with dementia, accommodating up to 31 people in one adapted building. At inspection, 30 people were residing there. Staff received training to work safely and respond to risks, and people were supported by sufficient numbers of trained staff. Systems were in place for safe medicine administration, though concerns were identified regarding storage of topical creams and thickeners, and stock control of prescribed medicines. Infection control arrangements also required improvement, particularly regarding use of personal protective equipment.

Residents felt safe at the home and spoke positively about their experience. One person said "There's absolutely nothing wrong in this place," while another praised the food as "lovely." A relative noted that staff "are kind and caring" and had taken time to build relationships. However, recommendations were made regarding safeguarding reporting and recording, systems for managing risk and learning from incidents, and robust recruitment practices were not evident.
