Burrow Down Shortbreaks

Burrow Down Shortbreaks, also known as Lynwood Lodge, provides respite care in Torquay for up to six autistic people and people with a learning disability, including those with physical disabilities, sensory impairments or complex behaviours. The CQC rated the home as Requires Improvement, finding breaches relating to safe care, consent, recruitment and governance, with staff not always having the information needed to keep people safe.

Inspectors found relatives confident in the service, describing staff as kind, caring and respectful, and noted an open, honest culture where people felt able to speak up. However, the provider could not fully demonstrate it met the principles of Right Support, Right Care and Right Culture, and improvements were needed to protect people from avoidable harm.
