Broadlands Park Residential Care Home

This residential care home provides personal care to up to 34 older people, some living with dementia. At inspection, 33 people were using the service. The provider's quality assurance system had not effectively identified concerns found during the inspection. Not all risks had been properly assessed to mitigate harm to residents, and auditing processes had failed to identify contradictory information in care records, putting people at risk of not receiving needed care. Staff had not received all required training for their roles and the needs of people living at the home.

The home had recently improved staffing levels through increased recruitment and sponsorship of new staff members. People were supported to have choice and control in their lives, with staff using the least restrictive approaches. However, mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions did not follow Mental Capacity Act guidance.
