Bowden-Derra Park

This service provides accommodation and care for up to 46 adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, sensory and physical disabilities, and dementia across four separate houses on a campus-style complex near Launceston. During the inspection, the main house was visited following a Covid-19 outbreak. The registered manager and staff had implemented effective infection control measures, including separate entrance and exit doors for people, staff and visitors, a dedicated room for PPE changes, and encouragement to use underused rooms to support social distancing. Regular testing identified positive cases quickly. Staff worked patiently with people who initially found testing distressing, supporting them over time until they became comfortable completing tests with minimal assistance.
