Penbownder House

Pendownder House provides personal care to up to 34 people, including younger adults, people with mental health needs, older people, and those living with dementia. The service operates two separate units, one specializing in dementia care and the other in mental health support.

Inspectors identified significant safety concerns. Medicines were not always managed safely, with some information in care plans being inaccurate and stricter controls not being recorded correctly. An open sharps bin containing used needles and syringes was kept on top of a cupboard in the dining room, easily accessible to people living with dementia. Staff lacked necessary guidance in care plans to help manage risks and prevent avoidable harm, and one person had assaulted both staff and other residents at the service.
