Beechwood Care Home

Beechwood Care Home in North Yorkshire is a residential nursing home for older people and those living with dementia. Following concerns raised about the service, the CQC rated it Inadequate overall and placed it in special measures. Inspectors found serious failures in safety and leadership, including unsafe medicines management, poor incident reporting and oversight, and repeated harm between residents.

Governance was weak, staff morale was low, and some families did not know who the manager was.

Care planning, effectiveness and staff kindness were rated Good, and some relatives described staff as friendly and the home as clean. However, others reported slow call bell responses, unmet hydration needs, missing belongings and poor communication. A change of manager brought early signs of improvement, and the provider acted promptly when concerns were raised.
