Ashington House

Ashington House provides residential care for up to eight younger adults with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. At inspection, five people were living at the home. The care home had implemented robust infection prevention measures including restricting access to non-essential visitors, requiring temperature checks and hand washing, and asking visitors to wear face coverings. Clear instructions on minimizing infection spread were displayed throughout the building.

Alternative arrangements helped people maintain contact with relatives and friends through video calls and socially distanced visits in the garden, with all visits pre-arranged. New admissions were tested for COVID-19 and required to self-isolate in their single bedrooms for at least ten days. Residents showing symptoms or testing positive were also isolated in their bedrooms for ten days.
