Amherst House

Amherst House provides nursing and personal care for up to 60 older people, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 56 people were resident at the service. People felt safe and told inspectors they were supported by staff who knew their needs well. Staff managed risks effectively and sufficient staffing levels were available to support people safely. Relatives spoke positively about the care and support provided. The service had implemented infection control measures in line with national COVID-19 guidance.

People's needs and choices were properly assessed and their preferences considered in care planning. Staff supported people with their nutritional needs, and residents were complimentary about the food provided. The service safely recruited and inducted staff, who had access to appropriate training and supervision to develop the skills needed to support people effectively.
