About Amberley House Care Home

Amberley House Care Home is a nursing home in Cornwall, providing care for older people, including those living with dementia. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Amberley House Care Home in Cornwall is a nursing home providing support for up to 35 older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, with safety rated Inadequate. Inspectors found risk assessments and care plans were inaccurate or out of date, medication records were incomplete, staffing levels and skill mix were inconsistent, and infection control practices were not always followed.

Mental Capacity Act principles were not always applied correctly, and oversight systems failed to pick up or act on these gaps. People who could not leave their bedrooms risked isolation, and mealtimes lacked a social atmosphere. Staff were, however, described as kind and caring by people and their families.
